Announcing: Santa Paws!

Here’s how it works:  We have partnered with some great Houston-area rescue groups to help promote dogs that have been in their programs for a long time.  We aren’t asking you to adopt these dogs (although we won’t be opposed to that either). We need your help to get the word out and help them find a home for the holidays!  Pick out your favorite(s) and share his or her info!  Email it to your friends, post on your Facebook wall, or share pictures of your chosen pup with co-workers.  Finding these little ones a home is just a matter of getting their information in front of the right person.  Please help us find these dogs the loving homes they deserve before the holidays!

Archie- ADOPTED!

Archie- K-9 Angels Rescue

This little Manchester Terrier has a unique tiger colored coat.  Archie has exceeded all expectations in his foster home!  He is perfectly house trained – though he did mark a few things on the patio on his first day there.  He has since learned that’s not okay.  Archie plays well with other dogs; he’s friendly with his foster sibling Pit Bulls and gentle with puppies.  After a day full of play, Archie puts himself to bed in one of the crates or dog beds around his foster house.  He’s not a barker and not a digger.  Archie would make a wonderful walking or jogging companion, as he loves to go with you everywhere.  Archie is around 1 yr old and about 25 lbs.  His profile and other photos can be seen here.  Archie is available for adoption through K-9 Angels Rescue!

BoBo

BoBo- K-9 Angels

BoBo- K-9 Angels Rescue

BoBo is a female Shepherd/Hound mix. She was named because she had a “bobo” on her leg. We thought she’d been hit by a car, but when the vet took xrays, he said she’d been shot. The pellets did not go into the bone but are lodged in the muscle tissue. BoBo was found living under an abandoned house, so she’s ready to start living a life of leisu…re. BoBo is quiet, sweet and waiting for her new home. She has never had a foster home, but she’s so well behaved at the center, that we can’t imagine her as anything but easy. This girl is very much a people pleaser. She’s good in her crate and plays well with other dogs. She likes to go for walks, loves to cuddle and be petted and is friends with many of the dogs in the program. She stays at a boarding kennel that allows for free play and she has done very well. BoBo is around 1-1.5 yrs old and about 43 lbs.  Her profile and other photos can be seen here.  BoBo is available for adoption through K-9 Angels Rescue!

Diamond

Diamond- Friends For Life

Diamond has always relied on the kindness of strangers.  Diamond’s story, as we know it, began after Hurricane Rita.  Her first family evacuated and was staying at the Salvation Army in Houston.  They knew that a shelter (whether it’s for humans or animals) was not a good place for her, so they did the best thing for Diamond and gave her away to a shelter volunteer.  That volunteer has given Diamond a loving and wonderful home for the past 6 years but is elderly and has begun to show signs of dementia.  She is in no position to keep Diamond, and only wants her faithful four-legged companion to be able to live out her last years with loving kindness.  So Diamond is once again in a vulnerable spot and needs a kind human’s touch to guide her through the rest of her days.  Diamond is very loyal to her owners. She can be a bit wary of strangers so she’ll need patience from her family when introducing her to new people.  Diamond will need to go to a forever home with no cats, or other dogs.  She likes being an only child!  Diamond has lived a full life and is now in her senior years.  She has been a faithful companion and a loyal friend and promises to love you when you’re cranky, protect you from strangers, and snuggle up with you when you’ve had a hard day.  Her profile and other photos can be seen here.  Diamond is available for adoption through Friends for Life!

Ellie

Ellie- Pup Squad Animal Rescue

Poor Ellie was in a pretty sorry state when she was rescued from the streets, but now she is one of the happiest, most loving dogs you could wish to meet.  Ellie was found along with her 3 puppies and was nursed back to health, gradually regaining her strength and energy.  She is now living the life of a normal dog for the first time and loving it!  She has developed wonderful house manners, is crate trained and house broken and knows basic commands.  Ellie has been living in harmony with cats as well as all kinds of other dogs.  She really has no bad habits and is a joy to be around.  Although she’s very content in her foster home where she knows she will get fed every day and have a soft bed to sleep on, she would still love a permanent place to rest her head.  Her profile and other photos can be seen here.  Ellie is available for adoption through Pup Squad Animal Rescue!

Francisco

Francisco

Francisco- Buster’s Friends

Francisco is a happy go lucky young guy who wandered right up to a Buster’s Friends’ volunteer’s porch recently. It appeared he had been living outside for some time & was a bit nervous about going in the house…but that’s all over now! He knows how to sit on command & gives the best hugs! Working on housebreaking & other commands in foster care. Likely a poodle/terrier mix with an underbite to die for and long legs a model could only dream of.  This sweet boy just wants to be loved. Please consider giving him the forever home he so deserves!  His profile and other photos can be seen here. Kiah is available for adoption through Buster’s Friends Rescue!

Kiah

Kiah- All Border Collie Rescue

Kiah- All Border Collie Rescue

This beautiful girl was turned in by extended family because she was not being properly cared for.  When ABC got her from the shelter, she was full of worms, including heartworms.  She is now done with treatment and is doing great.  She is ready to find her forever family!!  Kiah likes to hang with her foster siblings and is friendly with all dogs that don’t challenge her slight alpha personality.  She LOVES all humans and does fine with kids and loves to go belly-up for tummy petting.  She likes to run with other dogs, but prefers to chase the ball dog rather than BE the ball dog.  Kiah is a bit too interested in the foster kitty in her home, so she would work best in a home without kitties. Kiah does fine on a leash, rides well in the car and does well at her vet appointments. She does have an injured eye, which we believe limits her sight in that eye, but it doesn’t slow her down.  Her profile and other photos can be seen here.  Kiah is available for adoption through All Border Collie Rescue!

June

June- Lone Star Italian Greyhounds

June and her sister Violet (below) are Italian Greyhound/Pug mixes.  These sweet girls came from a home that could no longer care for them.  Both girls were heartworm positive, but have been treated.  They are 5 years old and are ready to be in a loving home of their own.  They are friendly dogs who love to run and play.  They would do well in a home together or apart.  June is 13 pounds.  She is available through Lone Star Italian Greyhounds.  Message us for their contact info!

Lenny- ADOPTED!

Lenny- Buster’s Friends

Lenny’s foster mom says he is very sweet, quiet, obedient, and responds to basic commands.   He likes to play ball, loves tummy ‘n head rubs, and gives kisses.  As much as he likes toys he really loves to be loved on by his people and would love a home where he gets plenty of cuddle time.  He has been groomed and did great (his coat was in bad condition when he was rescued).  The groomer said he did very well so he has probably been groomed before.  He has also had his teeth cleaned so he has sparkling teeth and fresh breath for his new family.  He is crate trained and learning house training quickly.  He is very good with a doggy door and does very well with the other dogs in his foster home.  He is around 3 yrs. old and about 20lbs.  His profile and other photos can be seen here.  Lenny is available for adoption through Buster’s Friends!

Lucky- ADOPTED!

Lucky- Buster’s Friends

Lucky is one very happy dog!  He is pretty much house trained as long as you pay attention to when he needs to go out.  He gets along with dogs and yes, now even cats!  He will follow you around the house and keep you company.  His cute little feet look like a duck so his foster mom started calling him Ducky Lucky.  Lucky does have some itchy seasonal allergies from time to time, or maybe it was the stress of being abandoned by his family, but so far a little Benedryl seems to be all that’s needed to soothe him.  Lucky would do best with a mature family.  Lucky is 3-4 years old and around 12lbs.  His profile and other photos can be seen here.  Lenny is available for adoption through Buster’s Friends!

Marie

Marie- Friends for Life

Marie has withstood terrible obstacles and challenges in her life—from starvation to cruelty to being used as a breeder dog.  After getting loose from her abusers, Marie was found in a park, emaciated and with heartworms, by a kind man who took her home and nursed her to health.  But with all of this, Marie loves people.  And she shows this love in special ways.  Marie is an affection junkie and thrives on attention since she was starved for it most of her life.  And, she gives attention back.  According to her foster, “Marie is always so happy to see you—even if you’ve only been gone a few minutes.  She makes me laugh when she wags her tail—she puts her whole body into it.”  She is never happier than when she is by your side.  Marie is your true friend, through thick and thin.  Marie is perfect for a one-dog family.  Due to her harsh background, she is anxious around other animals, but her heart is big enough to fill a home with love and devotion all by herself.  Her profile and other photos can be seen here.  Marie is available for adoption through Friends for Life!

Rocky

Rocky- Pup Squad Animal Rescue

Fun, funny, exuberant and energetic; Rocky has personality in spades.  Rocky’s momma is a small, black terrier.  Obviously, Rocky’s daddy had spots.  Everybody who meets this boy is completed charmed by his ready smile and sloppy puppy kisses.  Rocky has completed basic obedience, but he has a puppy’s zest for life.  He would make an ideal running companion, a fantastic agility dog, or a fearless Frisbee partner.  Rocky is neutered and up-to-date on all his shots.  He is crate trained and house trained.  His profile and other photos can be seen here.  Rocky is available through Pup Squad Animal Rescue!

Scotch- ADOPTED!

Scotch- All Border Collie Rescue

Scotch is a beautiful puppy looking for his forever home.  He is very active, loves to run and play with other dogs.  He is very friendly with all people and most likely will learn to live with cats in a home, due to his young age.  He is working on his house-breaking and will need someone committed to finishing the task.  He is crate-trained and sleeps all night.  Scotch is learning about balls, he knows to chase them but needs someone to teach him how to bring them back.  Because he appears to be a pure bred border collie, a family with experience or a commitment to formal training would be preferred as he is VERY smart!  Scotch is a barker if he is bored, so an active family is preferred!!  His profile and other photos can be seen here.  Scotch is available for adoption through All Border Collie Rescue!

Sheera

Sheera was born around March 1st of this year.  She has the sweetest black eyes and will watch her foster mom and listen to her every word.  Sheera knows how to sit and stay.  When she goes for a walk, she practices sitting at every corner.  Sheera is sweet and loving.  She thinks she’s a great watch dog, but she’s really a big scaredy cat.  At her foster house, she’s the bottom of the pecking order; humble and submissive to even the smallest puppy.  Sheera has been known to dig a hole in the garden when left outside too long.  She’s very intelligent and knows when her foster mom is unhappy with her.  It’s hard not to love this pretty dog. She’s still a puppy and the lab in her needs a little more time to mature. She is darling and a great dog for a family with kids.  She is also house-trained!  Sheera is around 7 months old and about 46 lbs.  Her profile and other photos can be seen here.  Sheera is available for adoption through K-9 Angels Rescue!
